Podcoast indexes public RSS feeds. If your show is listed in the usual directories, it is eligible without doing anything.

What a clip is

An excerpt from a published episode, played in-app with your show name, episode title and artwork attached. Every clip links to the full episode and to your feed. Listening continues from the clip into the episode, which means a clip that lands becomes real listening time on your episode rather than a dead end.

Choosing your own clips

Write to [email protected] from an address on your show's domain, or from the address in your feed's <itunes:email>, and you can:

• pick the excerpt timestamps yourself, per episode or as a standing rule
• replace or remove a clip that misrepresents the episode
• exclude specific episodes while keeping the show in the feed
• opt the show out entirely

Ads and dynamic insertion

Clips are cut from the same file your feed serves, so host-side dynamic insertion behaves as it does anywhere else. Clip boundaries avoid ad markers where the feed declares them. If your host exposes markers we are not reading, tell us which host and we will add it.

Numbers

Playback requests come from the listener's device with a normal user agent and range request, so your host counts them the way it counts any other client. We do not proxy audio or rewrite your download numbers.
