About Podcoast

Podcasts have the opposite problem from short video. There is more good listening published every week than anyone could get through, and almost none of it is discoverable without work: read a description, guess, skip the first four minutes, decide. The cost of trying a new show is high enough that most people stop trying.

Podcoast removes the deciding. The app opens on a clip that is already playing and keeps moving on its own, so listening costs nothing until something is worth staying for. When it is, you stop, and the excerpt turns into the episode — same screen, same position, no second app to open.

Underneath the feed it is an ordinary, complete podcast player. Subscriptions, downloads, a queue, speed control, chapters, a sleep timer. Discovery that works is worth very little if the thing you discovered then has to be listened to somewhere else.

Where the audio comes from

Shows are indexed from public RSS feeds, the open standard podcasting has always run on. Clips are excerpts that credit the show, link to the full episode, and link to the publisher's own feed.
